Neuralgias, Myalgias and other Pains in the Head

THE AUSTRALIAN CHAPTER OF THE AACP TAKES GREAT PLEASURE AND PRIDE IN INVITING YOU TO SYDNEY FOR OUR 5TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM NEURALGIAS, MYALGIAS AND OTHER PAINS IN THE HEAD. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.

Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) have been called "The Great Imposter". TMD is a very common cause of orofacial pain, and often appears in conjunction with many other systemic disorders. As dental practitioners, there will be times when we will be called on to decide if our patients have muscle or joint pain, or if the pain has its origins in cranial or peripheral facial nerves or other structures, or if it is related to a systemic disorder.

The aim of our 5th Symposium is to share with you the world's best in research and clinical practice on orofacial pain. You will learn how TMD fits into the wider scope of orofacial pain, and see into the damaged TMJ tissues via arthroscopy. You will gain greater understanding of the different types of facial pain and see clinical cases where the conventional radiography and MRI give very different and potentially life changing views of the patient's complaints. Nerve injuries happen, and you will learn about the origins, prevention and treatment of nerve pain and injury, with an emphasis on implant and local anaesthetic injuries. We broaden your knowledge on topical medications for orofacial pain, as well as complimentary therapies, and treatments used for fibromyalgia. Finally, we bring this back to the clinical setting and show case studies from a leading orofacial pain centre. You will learn how to listen to patients and assess other factors which may be impacting on their chronic pain condition so that you can improve your ability to treat them successfully.
In essence, this is the comprehensive course on orofacial pain that no practitioner working in this field can afford to miss. Download Brochure
